About Us
The Africa Peace Forum Society is a diverse group of community activists who came together in 2005 to illuminate the colours of peace in Africa at the World Peace Forum held in Vancouver in 2006.
Among other activities we organise an annual African Peace Festival; the 4th annual Festival will be at the Roundhouse in Vancouver on 18 July 2009.
We also organise other activities throughout the year - why don't you join us?
The Africa Peace Forum is organised around the following objectives:
A) to showcase local African artists, musicians, NGOs, entrepreneurs and activists in their work for peace and social justice in Africa and North America;
B) to organize an annual event, the African Peace Festival, during which funds are raised for a grassroots humanitarian project in Africa which is selected annually;
C) to expose British Columbians to African cultures and artists, and promote peace through dialogue, awareness and understanding of issues affecting Africa and Africans;
D) to unite and inspire the African diaspora to work together for peace and social justice;
E) to encourage constructive awareness and engagement in promoting the mission and integrity of the Pan African Parliament;
F) to encourage respect and dialogue by persons, NGOs and governments with the articles of the African Charter of People’s and Human Rights, and with the spirit and articles of the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
